Make A Change
For the hard days and the small joys and everything in between…

The Book Project
Written by the chronically ill, for the chonically ill.
Living with chronic illness is not one thing. It is a thousand things — the hard days that stretch longer than they should, the moments of unexpected beauty you learn to notice precisely because you have had to slow down enough to see them, the wisdom that quietly accumulates when life doesn’t go the way you planned and you figure out how to keep going anyway.
This is a book about that wisdom.
The Cherish Society is compiling a community book written by chronically ill people, for chronically ill people. Not a clinical guide. Not a collection of toxic positivity or hollow encouragement. Something more honest than that: the real things that have helped, the small joys people have learned to hold onto, the advice they wish someone had handed them earlier, the moments that reminded them they were still here and that still mattered.
Think of it as Chicken Soup for the chronically ill soul. Every story will have a heart to it — not just what happened, but what it taught you. Not a silver lining forced onto suffering, but the quiet, hard-won understanding that can coexist with it.
When it’s finished, it will be free. Always. Every person who needs it will be able to download or obtain a copy at no cost, because this book belongs to the community that built it. It will never be sold or monetized in any form.
How Stories Are Collected
To keep this project intentional and manageable, story submissions are by invitation only. We open calls for specific stories at different points throughout the year, which are always announced on our social media first. If you want to be among the first to know when submissions open, follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
When a submission window opens, we will share exactly what kind of stories or wisdom we are looking for and how to apply. All contributors will be asked to review our submission guidelines before signing up.
